10 Reasons I'm Kinda Weird

This post is not designed to make me more
endearing to those of you who choose to read
my blog, it is to make me real to those of you
who don't really know me personally.
And the bottom line is: I'm kinda weird.

Allow me to tell you why.

1. I cannot, under any circumstances, stick a dry Q-tip in my ear. I cringe at the very thought of it. I must stick the Q-tip in water or peroxide or SOMETHING. It may be safe to say that I'd much rather have a paper cut than stick a dry Q-tip in my ear.

2.As I mention in my {about me} section, I love {and crave} oreos dipped in peanut butter daily.

3. I am emetophobic--meaning I am deathly afraid of vomit. When I see vomit, hear it, or smell it I come unglued. I cry, hyperventilate, and have a panic attack. And thats a TRUE STORY, no exaggeration.

4. I could eat brussel sprouts every day, with or without a meal.

5. I miss Jeremy any time that we are apart--even if I'm gone to the store for ten minutes. Pathetic, perhaps! But I love the guy!!!

6. I tend to stand on my left leg and prop my right foot up on my left knee--even in mid-air. I've been asked "Are you standing like a flamingo?" Jeremy calls it my "Captain Morgan stance". I do this mostly while I'm stirring away in front of the stove, and my guess is as good as yours as to why I do it.

7. How can I put this one? Hmmm--The ends of a hotdog weenie REALLY seem to bother me--because--they look like a cats bum. Ahhh! They REALLY do if you think about it.

8.Vaccum lines on the carpet make me happy.

9. I can think of something I want and walk in the room to get it 5 seconds later and totally and completely forget what I was going to get--like I've said--my brain is permanently altered due to motherhood.

10. I absolutely DESPISE matching/folding socks. I have a {sock basket} that holds TONS of mismatched socks. TWO baskets for that matter, one for mine and Jeremys and one for Parkers. And SADLY, they will sit there filled up to the top, almost overflowing until I decide to take the initiative to finally do it. {Ugh}

P.S. I'm sure those of you who choose to read this will have your own two cents about my weirdness--feel free. ;)

Have a nice day!

Heartbeat at my Feet.

Friends this is Teddy Bear.
He is my four year old black pomeranian.
my cuddle buddy
my poof ball with legs
the {heartbeat at my feet}
Teddy bear loves
his mommy
his belly rubs
his large wardrobe
his treats
his bubba Parky
&& his pink collar and leash
I got Teddy Bear for an early Christmas present
in 2006 from my parents. He was an 8 week old black poof ball
that fit perfectly in the palm of my hand.
Teddy Bear currently lives with my parents
because the apartment complex we live in
unfortunately is NOT pet friendly.
Needless to say, I miss him dearly.
{Although I do bring him sometimes to visit.}
Our lease ends here at our apartment in August and here shortly
we will begin our search for a rental house. I'm looking for
a PET FRIENDLY home so I can bring him along with me.
&& hopefully some new pup additions.
{fingers crossed that I can talk Jerbear into it}

Teddy's FOURTH birthday bone!! Parker and Teddy <3
Missing my little poof ball more than ever!

These are the moments...

Every day I find myself thinking
"I can't wait for the day that ________"

Over the years that blank has been filled with: turn sixteen, get a tattoo, hurry up and have this baby already, find my passion, find the love of my life, move out, get completely organized and yada yada yada.

I tell myself
"I can totally be happy when ________"

And what do you think happens?

I accomplish the said goal, and then, before I even give myself time to enjoy it, I have moved on to the next "I can't wait for moment".

I'm still waiting on the "I can't wait until Parker actually find something he likes to EAT" moment to pass.

Kind of like when I "couldn't wait" until he could hold his own bottle.
or when I "couldn't wait" until he could sit up in the bathtub.
or when I "couldn't wait" until he could crawl...walk...and talk.

Yesterday as I was cleaning, I took one look at Jeremy and Parker playing and I wanted everything to STOP...to stand still...to stay exactly how it was.

I guess you could say I "had one of those moments"...

You know the ones.

The moments where suddenly,{almost out of nowhere} you become completely overwhelmed with happiness, and you're bursting at the seams with happiness at the life you have been given...{even if its less than perfect}

To me, in those moments, it doesn't matter that I have 5 days worth of laundry to do, or that I have no idea what the future holds for me and my family...

Because in those moments, all that matters is that I am here...

with the ones I love.

There are no "I can't wait until" thoughts, because in those moments I'm not waiting on life to pass me by...
I'm living in the moment...and loving it.
Heres to the moments like these:.

What you see is what you get.

This blog is me.

Every bit of me.

The good, the bad, the ugly
the spunky, the silly,
the happy, the anxious, the content,
the frustrated, the scared, the worried.

The fears, the dreams,
and even the insecurities.

We all have them.

Even the most confident and self assured have insecurities.
We were designed to have them.
You'd be lying if you said you didnt have any.

Some of us keep them a secret.
Some of us wear them on our sleeve.
Some of us let those insecurities bring us down.
Some of us let those insecurities define us.

Since I was 12 years old,
there have always been things I wish I could change about myself.
About my looks,
my body,
my intelligence,
my personality,
my patience.

Nothing TOO serious.
Just always nagging in the back of my mind,

"why can't I be as smart as her?"
"why can't my hair look like that?"
"why can't I have legs like that?"
"why can't I have those abs?"
Sadly, most of those insecurities have to do with physical appearance, as I imagine is pretty normal for most teenage girls.

But then, three years ago,

Everything changed.

I had a baby.

And that baby changed my perspective.
Made me look at the world differently.
Made me look at my body differently.
Made me appreciate its power, rather than focus on
what I thought to be flaws.

The 2 stretch marks on both of my

sides represent the miracle I brought into the world.

The love handles I have represent the times I have chose to enjoy family dinners that consisted of some GOOD cooking.

My almost ALL the way dimished tan represents my need to be healthy for my family, rather than need to bake in the tanning bed.

My not-so-large anymore wardrobe represents enjoying buying for my Parky more than buying for myself.

I have learned am still learning to embrace my insecurities.

But does that mean that I wouldn't love to have flat abs like this girl?
or that I wouldn't drool over having hair like this girl? or long legs like this girl?
or be as selfless like this girl?
or be a super momma like this girl?
or be an inspiration like this girl?
or be as talented as this girl?
or have the strength like this girl?
or be a true friend like this girl? and this girl?

You bet I would.

Because I always want to be better.
but I also want to be ME.

& you can take it or leave it.

Huff and Puff.

Today I attempted to take pictures of Parker.
Notice that he is not smiling.

Not only was no smiling the issue

huffing

&

puffing

as well.

Maybe today was just "one of those days" for Parky.

I shall try again this weekend, although in a way they turned out kinda cute.

But with a face like that, how could they not.

Lessons Learned.

I have officially been a mommy for 3 years 4 months and 5 days.

I have learned a few tidbits that would have been nice to know BEFORE becoming a mommy--little helpful hints that may could have made my life oh, so much easier--little words of wisdom that would have saved me countless hours of worry. Little life lessons that, had I known before, would have made me a wiser and calmer little mama over these last three years.

So....through the journey of mommy-hood, I thought why not share some of these unexpected experiences.

1. Don't let anyone tell you that you won't need an SUV until you have atleast three kids. I have one 30 pound 3 year old and I feel like a U-haul would be the most appropriate method of transportation to house all of my necessary "gear" we need JUST to go to the grocery store thats not even a mile away. Extra pair of clothes, snacks, toys, carseat, germ-x, more toys, and yes more germ-x. Although when Jeremy takes him out--he manages with nothing but a carseat. {Love you honey.}

2. Your house will never ever be in "perfect order". The sooner you accept that the more sane you will feel. If you stepped into our apartment right now you would think I was like Octomom or something. But this is reality--and it doesn't bother me.

3. How I look when I leave the house is no longer a top priority--in fact, not really a priority at all. Instead, dressing Parker extra cute is a priority. Meanwhile, I have greasy hair, tiny chocolate finger smears on my jeans, and wearing the same outfit I wore the day before.

4. When Parker was a baby, strangers ALWAYS would want to touch him. Strangers WILL touch your baby. Before I had Parker I was always one of those touchy strangers--I just couldn't resist. I didn't realize at the time that my potential stranger germs were giving the moms of the babies I just so happen to get a hold of, a panic attack. And I definitely received payback everyday when Parker was a baby as these strangers would come and let him hold their finger and even sometimes let him pull it into his slobbery teething mouth.

5. Speaking of strangers, as soon as you have a new baby, you will be insulted by strangers. COMPLETE strangers. I remember the first time I took Parker to Walmart, just to get out, I was desperate for a taste of the real world. But I was so worried about taking him out in public so I loaded my purse down with 20 containers of germ-x, germ-x wipes, my mini lysol spray, and covered his carseat up with a blanket as I took him inside and placed him in a buggy. Once inside the store I was approached by a lady and she glanced at Parker, and then glanced back at me and asked me how old he was. {I dont remember how old he was at the time. Apparantly too young for walmart} and she then gave me a mini lecture about how "she can't beleive I brought him to walmart at such a young age, she would have never done that with her kids". My jaw hit the floor and my eyes filled up with tears and I felt like the worst mom ever. Lesson learned that day: Let it go. People have their own opinions.

6. It NEVER mattered if Parker wore a BLUE shirt that said "Thank Heaven for Little Boys" on it and wouldn't have mattered if i wrote "BOY" with a Sharpie on his forehead. Every stranger thought he was a girl. "Awww. She's so pretty, whats her name?" It was the eye lashes he was blessed with.

7. When there is a brand new baby, fresh out of the womb, in the hospital room, bundled up in a cute little fluffy blanket, your PAIN means NOTHING to absolute NOBODY. Except for the nurses that are getting paid to care about your pain. All of the attention they lavished on me while I was pregnant, done. over. nada. Some advice: dont even try to gather sympathy from people. Trust me I tried everything from pouting to dramatically clutching my vajay and the most I ever got out of anybody was "Oh, you'll be alright."

8. As for one who always has and still to this day stares, and could stare at Parker in awe for hours on end--I can confirm that Parenthood is the most amazing blessing.

this is not even HALF of the experiences. I'm sure there will be more added later.

until next time. mwuahs. :)

R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

So as you all know, my Parker Lee is three- will be FOUR October 18th.

For those who have been around Parker know that for the most part he is very:
outgoing
friendly
smart
hilarious
&& one of a kind.

But our problem here recently is ATTITUDE & DISRESPECT.
(I know, I know. Hes THREE}

So the times that I have a little free time, I sometimes brainstorm {what things can I do differently.}

And right now, is one of those times, and I am thinking,

{What can I do to teach him respect, and how to show it.}
The earlier the better!??
And those who know me, like REALLY REALLY know me, know that I have one of those sassy attitudes, & a smart mouth. Or I can.

{And yes, I admit it.}

So the first thing that came to my mind when I thought about RESPECT, is that its GOT to be one of the MOST important things you can teach your child.
I've noticed lately, that Parker is picking up EVERYTHING me and Jeremy say, and do. And not always are we very nice towards each other, because of the sarcastic, SMART MOUTH personailties we both have.

{So we both need to work a little on ourselves too.}

We need to make sure that we are modeling RESPECTFUL behavior.

A few ways I think that I can work on RESPECT as a MoMMy:
- Being reliable. Keep my promises and show Parker I mean what I say.
- Being polite. Say "Please" "Thank You".
- Being fair. Listen to Parkers side of the story before I jump to conclusions.

.............................................................................................

The most important way to show respect is to show love!

{we have no problem with this}

In my house, lots of hugs and kisses are given.
And LOTS of I love you's are said!
..................................................................................................

It is kind of scary how in just 2 years or so, Parker will be starting kindergarden, and from then on, respect will not be the ONLY thing I will be having to teach.
- how to read.
- look on the brightside.
- how to tie shoes
- fight courageously & lose graciously.
- have confidence.
- save money.
- be independent.
- get along with people you may not like too much.
- accept others for their differences.
- play the piano.
- make the bed.
- apologize.
- Algebra in the 3rd grade.
- how to treat girls.
- how to drive.
alright.

I dont even want to think about it anymore.

until next time mwuahs ;)

I Got The Remedies :)

Random Remedies...

that I use at home.

{Brown Sugar Face Mask.}
suga suga.

I have extra exxxxtra dry skin on my face and everytime I put make-up on I can see little flakies on my nose sometimes, and in between my eyebrows sometimes but mainly on my chin. So exfoliating to get rid of all of the dead skin cells is something I do a whole lot.

SO.

The way I do that IS:

Using brown sugar. and milk.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons of brown sugar.
1/4 cup of milk.

{you can keep adding, depending on how much you need}

Put the brown sugar in a small bowl and add the milk. Keep adding the milk until its {soupy}. Apply to your face. {its going to be very gritty}. Scrub the entire face gently and then let it sit for 5 to 10 mins or until its dry. Remove with warm water and then you can cleanse with your regular facial cleanser {if you want to}{I dont} Pat dry && apply a moisturizer.

{EVOO.}
Outside and In.

So, with me going to school for Esthetics and Skin care, Ive learned a whole lot about the history of skin care. One of the most prized ingredients that the Egyptians, Greeks & Romans took advantage of was EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL.

Olive oil doesn't only just give the skin a healthy radiant complexion, but it can also maintain elasticity in your skin, heal dry brittle nails and soften cuticles, and can also condition and add shine to hair.

To receive full benefit of olive oil, EAT IT! Olive Oil is full of antioxidants, and Vitamin E.

Olive Oil Treatments:

Bath: For a moisturizing soak, add about 1/4 cup olive oil and several drops of some essential oil. I prefer Lavender oil, and will take the bath before bed because Lavender relaxes you. {CAUTION:SLIPPERY TUB}

Dry Skin: Massage a small amount of olive oil on extra dry areas such as elbows or heels.

Hands: For rough, dry hands. Combine two tablespoons of oil with two tablespoons of sugar. Rub on hands until sugar begins to dissolve. Rinse with warm water. Voila! Silky-smooth hands.

Feet: Apply a liberal amount of oil to feet at bedtime. Cover with cotton socks. Not sexy... but oh-so-soft feet in the morning! The magic works for hands, too. Cover with white cotton gloves {hmm, even less sexy}.

Face: Create a moisturizing facial mask with olive oil, honey, and an egg yolk. Beat until well blended and apply to face... then relax! Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Nails: Warm a small dish of olive oil {not too hot} with a tablespoon of lemon juice. Soak nails for 5- 10 minutes. This softens cuticles while it strengthens nails.

Hair: For a simple oil treatment, warm several tablespoons of olive oil {again, not hot}. Rub into scalp and hair. Cover with a shower cap or a small plastic bag. Leave on for 20-30 minutes.
For extra conditioning, mix an egg yolk with the olive oil... but do not warm. This is great for dry hair and split ends. It may even heal dandruff.
Shampoo twice after this treatment or you'll smell like raw egg!

Lips: Alleviate chapped lips with straight olive oil. Dab on lips... especially helpful at bedtime.

{Pearly Whites.}
Cheaper than white strips.

What you need:

2 YOUTH Football mouth peices (clear)
{96 cents at walmart}

Plus White: 5 Minute Speed Whitening Gel
{$5 at walmart}

Mouth Peice instructions:

Boil Water.
Take water off the stove and let stand for 30 seconds.
Place 1 mouth peice in the water for 10 seconds.
Take out of the water with tongs shake the water off.
Place in mouth, bite down and suck all of the water out
Leave it in for 30 seconds.
This creates a mold of your teeth.
Take mouthpeice out and hold under cold water.

Repeat for the bottom mouth peice.

{when you buy the mouthpeices, the instructions are on the back in case mine made zero sense, which is more than likely.}

Instructions for Whitening gel:

Get a Qtip and put some of the gel on the Qtip and rub all over the the top and bottom teeth. Make sure you get the spaces between your teeth too.
Fill the mouthpeices up with white gel. Dont overdo it because it will seep out and its nasty. Do not swallow it. I always do this, and get in the shower so I can spit out the extra gel that doesnt stay in the mouth peice. Leave in 5-10 mins. Take out, rinse with water. Brush teeth with a whitening tooth paste.

And then I always rinse with a whitening mouth wash.

{Raccoon Eyes.}
or puffy.

Yes. I am young. But if I go through a phase where I dont sleep good for a few nights, I start getting darkish looking circles under my eyes. {Which I hate}.

There are severel causes of DARK CIRCLES:

Age. As you grow older the skin begins to get thinner and the veins under the eyes become more visible.

Fatigue / Lack of sleep.

Stress or depression.

Nutrient deficiency - lack of balanced diet can cause various defeciencies in the body and can cause unwanted dark circles or bags under the eyes.

Hyper pigmentation.

Sun exposure.

Excess use of drugs and medications.

While there are several different remedies for DARK CIRCLES, depending on how severe your dark circles are, I choose the one that has seemed the most simple, and most effective ON ME. Have you have ever seen at a Spa or on TV, when someone has a facial mask, with cucumber slices over their eyes, and wondered what the purpose was for the cucumbers? Well, IM going to tell you!

{The remedy I use} Cucumber slices, or cucumber juice can help reduce the appearance of dark circles. Cucumber slices or juice lighten the skin and also soothe the skin. So not only do they reduce dark circles, but if you have a job where you stare at the computer screen all day, and your eyes are usually irrated when you get home, try applying cucumber slices or juice to the skin around the eyes! Also helps for itchy irritated eyes when dealing with allergies too. If you are allergic to cucumbers, or don't have any, potatoes have the same effect. They just dont smell as good!

{Other remedies for dark circles:}

Place two cold tea bags over your eyes.

Creams with Vitamin E and Vitamin C can be applied to the skin around the eyes.

Almond oil massaged under the eyes. {GOOD ONE}

8 hours of sleep every night.

Drinking plenty of water.

Make a paste with 1 teaspoon of tomato juice, half teaspoon lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder and a pinch of gramflour. Put it under the eyes and leave on for 10 mins. {THIS IS THE MOST FAMOUS HOME REMEDY FOR DARK CIRCLES}

{Club Soda Rinse}
Fizzies for the Frizzies.

What is club soda? Carbonated water.
Where can I get Club soda? Walmart. 96 cents.

{I have uncontrollable unmanagable frizzified hair.}

Why? Because as you all know, I change my hair color like I change panties.

After you shower, shampoo and condition your hair, give your hair a final rinse with Club soda. This will give you MANAGABLE, CONTROLLABLE, UNFRIZZIFIED hair. It also strips all the residue and dirt left over from your hair

This home remedy was born in the Dominican Republic.

ALSO if you have blonde, or bleached blonde hair and your hair turns green from the chlorine after swimming in a pool, it can strip the green right out of your hair.

{Migraines/Headaches.}
ouchie.

I suffer from frequent headaches and sometimes even a 3 day migraine that comes literally once a month. You can guess when that might be.

So does my mom. So does my luv Tina.

And many more people that I know.

Migraine Headaches are the most chronic headache. Over 25 million people suffer from migraines and 75% of those people are women.

Excessive use of coffee, alcohol, spices, oily greasy food stuff should be avoided.

Increase your intake of {Niacin} which is Vitamin B3. It has been found to be helpful in alleviating migraine pain.

Foods that are rich in Niacin, Vitamin B3 are:
whole wheat
green leafy veggies
nuts
sunflower seeds
and fish

When I have a migraine, the remedy I use {when I have time} is:

The Hot & Cold Treatment.

I wrap a cold pack in a towel and place it on the back of my neck, then I will place my hands in hot water. It is said that the hot water will pull the pressure out of your head. It's also a good excuse to wash dishes before the migraine gets mucho worse.

that + Exedrin Migraine + All the lights OFF

=

Little mama feeling better, and a few cents cheaper utility bill.
the cheaper the bills - the happier my lova JJ is.

Heartburn / Acid Reflux.
Burn Baby Burn. :\

I LOVE food. ANY kind of food. Especially SPICY food.

and then it comes.

HEARTBURN.

and even worse when I lay down

ACID REFLUX.

Whats my remedy???

1 teaspoon of baking soda

swallow.

Chase with water.

Or you can mix the baking soda in the water and drink it.

{very salty. but tastes better than pepto}

Easy as that!

{Girly Cramps.}
o em gee.

People who think "Whats the big deal?" when it comes to girly cramps has obviously not experienced a full-blown case of these gut grabbing spasms.

OH. I HAVE.

Usually my cramps last for about 2 days. Who wants 48 hours of this misery?

Not I.

There are several ways to help reduce cramps.

Exercise.
{endorphins are released when you exercise. which is one of your bodys
natural ways of killing pain.}

Mint.
{add to tea or suck on a mint candy.}

Increasing intake of Vitamins and Minerals.
{take a multivitamin}

WHATS MY REMEDY???

I drink hot liquids. Esp an herbal tea.
{this increases the blood flow and relaxes your muscles.}

Taking a HOT mineral bath.
{Baking Soda, Sea Salt, and Lavender oil.}
very relaxing.

Heating pad on lower back, or lower tummy
{ahhh}

Ibuprofin, midol, or pamprin.
{Whichever I have at the time}

TRY them and SEE!

They work for me!

until next time...

Thankfully the grass doesn't give off enough of these compounds to have a severe effect on humans. Me=Nerd.
The smell of DREFT Laundry Detergent.
Because it smells like a baby :)
The smell of GRAVEL after it rains.
Im weird. But I love it. Its like a combination of a musky and chalky smell.

The sound of Nicholas Cage's VOICE.
His voice is so calming. Could put me to sleep.

Maddness

this included lots of:
- screaming
- messes
- fists flying
- faces slapped
- tears
- boo boos
- time outs

{ONE FRUSTRATED LITTLE MAMA}

Saturday night Jeremy's nephews came to spend the night with us. Lets just say that a two bedroom apartment is not the place for two 3yr olds and a 4yr old. There were times during that night I wished I could have escaped from the maddness, but living in a two bedroom apartment that is kind of an impossible thing to do.

There is noise wherever you go.

So after taking deep breaths, ah, lets say, every second of the night, we bathed them and put them to bed. Whew.

TIME OUT.

Nathaniel and Nicki video chatting their daddy! Sweet & priceless moment!

They love Jeremy!!!!

At the end of the day, as crazy as they get, I love these little boys & Parker.

{we just need a bigger place} ;)

6 days until Valentines day.

Birthdays are Nature's way of saying LETS EAT CAKE!!!

♫♪♫♪♫♪♫HaPpY BiRThDaY To You♪♫♪♫♪♫♪
You LiVe In A ZoO
YoU SmeLL LiKe a MoNkEyyyyy
aaaaand You AcT LiKe OnE toooooo.
♪♫♪♫♪♫♪Ooooooo.♪♫♪♫♪♫♪

So yesterday was my Aunts birthday.
We all went to Ricatonis to eat and it was simply AH-mazing.
I think she turned 53.

{You know you're getting older when the candles cost more than the cake...bahahaha}

Although, I'd rather have Olive Garden, it was pretty good. I got the oh so yummy chicken alfredo with peas and mushrooms! Parker got spaghetti and it came with a big ole meatball on top and thats all he ate of course. I'm not believing it is already February. I have learned that after you have a baby  time freaking FLYS, because I don't remember time passing so quickly before I had Parker. I remember thinking I was NEVER going to turn sixteen, or I was NEVER going to turn eighteen and be able to get a tattoo. Now, coming up in about a month I'll be turning 21 and thats the birthday that EVERYBODY {or atleast everybody I know} looks forward to. Not me. Its just another day for me. I'll probably spend the day with my little man and my lova.

Busy doing homework tonight and studying. Booooooo.

Until next time!!
MWUAHS!
